Iowa Lakes women stop NIACC, 4-1

MASON CITY - The NIACC women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday with a 4-1 defeat to Iowa Lakes in a nonconference contest.

The match was tied 1-1 at the half but the Lakers scored three second-half goals.

Lena Oliver put the Lady Trojans (3-1 overall) in front 1-0 with 35 minutes, 19 seconds left in the first half on an assist from Jessica Altman.

Iowa Lakes tied the contest at 1-1 with 26:09 remaining in the first half on a goal from Madeleine Duncan.

Duncan scored two more goals in the second half for the Lakers. Tessa Calabria also scored a goal in the second half for the Lakers.

NIACC returns to action Saturday at home against Indian Hills. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
