Hall of famer Oertel featured in CR Gazette article
John Oertel, who was inducted into the NIACC athletics hall of fame, is featured in a Cedar Rapids Gazette article about the Cedar Rapids Raiders, a semipro football team in the 1970s.
Oertel is a former quarterback and coach for the Raiders.
"I guess the reason we played as the love of the game," Oertel was quoted as saying in the Gazette article. "For some of us, it was also the fact we had something to prove. We never got rich and we were never looking to get rich."
