SAUGET, Ill. - The NIACC baseball team dropped a 3-game series to Three Rivers College on Feb. 14-15.
On Feb. 14, Three Rivers College topped the Trojans 11-1. On Feb. 15, Three Rivers College swept a doubleheader by the scores of 4-2 and 9-8.
In the Feb. 14 contest, Three Rivers College (8-1) scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the third inning, a single run in the sixth inning and five runs in the seventh frame. The Raiders pounded out 10 hits to score their 11 runs.
NIACC (1-5) scored its lone run in the seventh inning on a RBI single by Nick Parton scoring Jacob Neutz. Minchan Kim and Neutz also had singles for the Trojans.
Three Rivers College's Jackson Privett (2-0) gained the win. He allowed no runs on two hits with four strikeouts and four walks in five innings of work.
In the first game on Feb. 15, Three Rivers College plated two runs in the first inning and added single runs in the second and fourth frames. NIACC scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
NIACC's Jack Gorman was 2 for 3, including a home run. Hunter Sandberg, Ben Hoffman and Justyn Rivera all collected singles for the Trojans.
Dalton Forck (2-0) gained the win on the mound for the Raiders. Forck allowed one run on one hit with seven strikeouts and two walks in five innings of work.
In the second game on Feb. 15, Three Rivers College scored three runs in the second inning, a single run in the fourth inning and pushed across five runs in the sixth frame.
NIACC scored two runs in the fifth inning and scored six runs in the sixth inning to take a 8-4 lead.
Rivera was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and scored a run. Neutz homered for the Trojans, his third of the season and seventh of his career, and drove in two runs.
Kim, Jack Terpstra, Tiago Cavallo and Tyler Rosenow all collected singles for the Trojans.
NIACC returns to action Saturday and Sunday in a three-game series against Missouri State University-West Plains (2-3) in West Plains, Mo. The two teams will play a twinbill on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
