NIACC men fall to Iowa Central, 85-80

FORT DODGE — After leading for much of the game, NIACC faltered late Saturday in an 85-80 loss to Iowa Central.

"We were in control the whole way and they just had a couple guys hit some big shots," NIACC coach Mark Mohl said. "And anytime you go 5 for 14 from the line you're probably not going to win."

Boy Van Vliet poured in 31 points to lead the Trojans and Trei Mitchell added 15. Matt Baker and George Ivens added nine apiece.

Jerrod Moorer paced the Tritons with 33 points and Deon Wright scored 21.

NIACC (13-10, 1-6) hosts Dakota County Technical College Monday at 7 p.m.

Notes: Van Vliet has 645 career points, which ranks 35th on NIACC's career scoring list ... Van Vliet passed Matthew Don (2012-14), who ranks 36th with 622 career points.
