NIACC men fall to Southwestern, 82-69

CRESTON - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped to 1-1 in conference play with a loss to No. 11 Southwestern.
The Trojans trailed by 12 at the half before trimming the deficit to five with seven minutes to go. But Southwestern executed better down the stretch to pull away. Luke Mascall-Wright led NIACC with 14 points. Court Christianson hit four 3-pointers for 12 points, and Trei Mitchell added 11.
"I thought our effort was good, but I thought our attention to detail wasn't very good," NIACC coach Mark Mohl said. "It's a win for us in the fact that we matured and are learning from our mistakes."
NIACC (12-5) hosts Ellsworth at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Notes: Boy Van Vliet has 485 career points, 58 career 3-point goals, 150 career assists and 74 career steals ...
