NIACC men stop Iowa Central, 74-60
MASON CITY - Boy Van Vliet scored 28 points with a career-high nine rebounds and seven assists to lead NIACC to a 74-60 victory over Iowa Central in the ICCAC opener for both teams on Saturday in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (12-4 overall, 1-0 in ICCAC) also received 16 points from freshman Luke Mascall-Wright.
Iowa Central was led by Marcus Baldwin with 23 points.
It's the third straight win in the series for NIACC over Iowa Central. The three straight wins by the Trojans is the most in the series since they won four straight from 1998-2000.Iowa Central leads the all-time series 61-49.
It's also the second straight season that NIACC has won its league opener. The Trojans topped Kirkwood 75-67 in the conference opener in the 2014-15 season.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at Southwestern.
