NIACC men face Iowa Central in league opener Saturday
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team opens ICCAC play Saturday at home against Iowa Central.
Game time is set for 3 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (11-4 overall) topped DCTC 79-77 Wednesday. Sophomore guard Trei Mitchell scored the game-winner for the Trojans with five seconds remaining. Sophomore Boy Van Vliet led the Trojans with 16 points and Mitchell scored 13 points.
Iowa Central (6-4) topped the Waldorf College Junior Varsity 78-57 on Wednesday.
Van Vliet averages 15.8 points per game (5th in ICCAC) to lead the Trojans. Also, freshman Luke Mascall-Wright averages 14.3 points per game (7th in ICCAC).
In other ICCAC games Saturday, Kirkwood plays at Iowa Lakes, Southwestern plays at DMACC and Ellsworth plays at Marshalltown in a nonconference game.
NIACC/Iowa Central history lesson: NIACC topped Iowa Central 92-88 in triple overtime and 75-63 in the two meetings last season ... Iowa Central leads the all-time series 61-48 ...
