NIACC men open season with 105-48 victory

MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team topped Dakota Wesleyan Junior Varsity 105-48 Friday night in the Konigsmark Klassic.

Sophomore Boy Van Vliet scored 13 points to lead five NIACC players in double figures in its season-opening victory.

Also in double figures for the Trojans were James Wanjara with 12 points, Court Christianson and Luke Mascall-Wright with 11 points each and George Ivens with 10 points.

It is the 18th time in the Mark Mohl era that the Trojans have scored 100 points. The 105 points is tied for the 11th highest scoring game in Mohl's eight years as coach.

NIACC returns to action at 5 p.m. Saturday against Pure Prep Academy on the second day of the Konigsmark Klassic.

Notes: Mohl has a career record of 115-99 ... Mohl is 8-0 in season openers ... Van Vliet has 228 career points, 90 career rebounds, 80 career assists and 47 career steals.
