MASON CITY - The first time the NIACC men's soccer team played Hawkeye CC this season, the RedTails prevailed 7-0.
It was a much different story the second time around.
NIACC nipped Hawkeye CC 5-4 on Saturday afternoon on the NIACC campus to snap a four-match losing streak to the RedTails.
NIACC (4-9-1 overall, 3-4 in the ICCAC) received its match-winning goal from Hugo Garcia-Rosado Duran with 7 minutes, 16 seconds remaining in the contest. Mohammad Sanyang assisted on the match-winning goal.
NIACC took a 4-1 lead on a goal from Garcia-Rosado Duran with 20:15 left in the contest. Hawkeye CC (2-10, 2-5), however, scored three straight goals in the next eight minutes to tie the match at 4-4.
NIACC took the lead for good about a minute later when Garcia-Rosado Duran found the back of the net and put the Trojans in front for good.
Geoffroy Letienne scored two goals for the Trojans and Kagiso Madisha also scored a goal. Lewis Bowes and Madisha both had two assists in Saturday's victory.
NIACC wraps up its regular season Wednesday at league-leading Southeastern. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
