NIACC's Alert earns ICCAC honorable mention honors
MASON CITY - NIACC sophomore Alyssa Alert earned ICCAC Division I honorable mention honors for her performance at the NJCAA Plains District Tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course on April 24-25.
Alert, who is from Mason City, shot rounds of 81-90 - 171, which was 24th in the individual medalist competition at the district meet that also included four Kansas schools.
DMACC sophomore Ashley Michel was the league's player of the year and Chris Seaboch was the coach of the year.
Michel qualified for the national championship for the second consecutive year. She finished in fifth place individually, four strokes behind fourth place. While being named athlete of the week several times this season, Michel has received first place medalist honors in five tournaments this year and finished top 5 in every tournament she's played in except one.
