NIACC's Barbieri, Hernandez win pair of matches
DES MOINES – NIACC's 101-pounder Chiara Barbieri won a pair of matches in the Silver Division at the Grand View Open on Saturday.
Barbieri (6-1) picked up a 10-0 technical fall over York College's Graciela Reyes in her opening round match. She also pinned Chadron State College's Britley Lopez in 56 seconds in the quarterfinal round.
Barbieri bowed out of the tournament after her two matches.
NIACC's Tatiana Hernandez won her first two matches in the 116-pound silver division before falling in the semifinals.
Hernandez (7-2) gained a 10-0 technical fall over Snow College's Lexus Bertagnolli in the second round and picked up a 5-2 decision over University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Morgan Bethea in the quarterfinals.
Hernandez dropped a 11-0 technical fall to Oklahoma City University's Iby Garcia in the semifinals.
