NIACC faces Iowa Central in regional tourney
WEST BURLINGTON - Fifth-seed NIACC faces top-seed Iowa Central in the second round of the NJCAA Region 11 baseball tournamen at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Community Field, the home of the Burlington Bees.
NIACC nipped fourth-seed Northeast CC 5-4 in Thursday's opening round contest. Iowa Central received a first-round bye for being the league's top seed.
NIACC (24-27) will throw red-shirt freshman right-hander Austin Klug against the Tritons. Klug is 2-2 with 35 strikeouuts and 28 walks with a 4.79 earned run average in 47 innings of work.
Iowa Central (44-9) won the three-game series 2-1 against NIACC. The Trojans won the first game 15-7 and the Tritons won the second two contests 9-7 and 13-10.
Second-seed Southeastern topped third-seed Kirkwood 7-4 in the first winner's bracket game Friday.
