NIACC men stop Ellsworth, 69-58

MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team topped Ellsworth 69-58 Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.

NIACC (17-7 overall, 6-5 in the ICCAC) trailed 33-32 at the half but the Trojans outscored the Panthers 37-25 in the second 20 minutes. It was the seventh straight win in the series for the Trojans against the Panthers.

Freshman Myles Tucker led the Trojans with a game-high 19 points. Jeffrey Skogen, Noah Rigatuso and Bradley Andrews all socred 10 points for the Trojans.

Skogen, a sophomore guard, led the Trojans with a game-high 12 rebounds for his first career double/double. This is the fourth time this season that Skogen has collected at least 10 rebounds in a contest.

Tucker also collected four steals and dished out two assists. Devon'dre Mayfield grabbed seven rebounds.

Ellsworth (13-13, 4-8) was led by Jake Watson and Rich Ashu with 10 points each.

NIACC returns to action Monday at home against the Wartburg College Junior Varsity. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
