NIACC's Delgado wins 600 at UNI indoor meet
CEDAR FALLS - NIACC's Akahnni Delgado won the 600-meter run in a personal-best time of 1 minute, 25.62 seconds at Northern Iowa's Jack Jennett Invitational in the UNI-Dome on Friday.
NIACC's Daniel Hennigar was fitth in the 600 in a time of 1:28.01.
Also for the Trojans, who placed 10th in the team standings with 19 points, the 4x400-meter relay team of Scott Hengesteg, Kalen Eastman, Blake Lindsey and Timothi McMaster placed 6th in 3:35.05.
NIACC's Abdiaziz Wako was seventh in the mile in a time of 4:39.26. Former NIACC all-American Wal Khat, who was running unattached for Northern Iowa, won the mile in 4:27.83.
McMaster and Prince Buduo narrowly missed qualifying for the finals (top eight) in the 60-meter dash. McMaster ran 7.17, which was the ninth fastest qualifying time, and Boduo ran 7.18, which was the 10th fastest qualifying time.
For the NIACC women, Keisha Gonzague placed third in the 600-meter run in a personal-best time of 1:49.60 seconds.
NIACC freshman Jaylynn Scrivner placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 1:03.26 seconds.
NIACC's 4x400-meter relay team of Dashawn Wyatt, Amy Fullerton, Gonzague and Elizabeth Mennen placed third in a time of 4:36.11.
Also Friday for the NIACC women, Anna Frisch was 10th in the mile in a time of 5:51.52.
The NIACC women placed ninth in the team standings with 21 points.
NIACC returns to action Feb. 3 at the Grinnell Invitational.
