No. 9 NIACC tops No. 13 Iowa Lakes, 28-21
ESTHERVILLE - The No. 9 NIACC wrestling team topped No. 13 Iowa Lakes 28-21 in an ICCAC dual meet Wednesday night.
NIACC picked up falls from Josh Barretta (157 pounds) and Chase McCleish (184). The Trojans gained technical falls from Brody Hawtrey (141) and Christian Minto (165).
Barretta pinned Iowa Lakes' Juan Diaz in 5 minutes, 30 seconds. McCleish pinned the Lakers' fifth-ranked Logan Koedam, a national qualifer last season, in 4:18.
Hawtrey gained a 16-1 technical fall over the Lakers' Jovanni Butler and Minto recorded a 18-3 technical fall over Iowa Lakes' Dallas Horne.
Minto, who is ranked second, improved his career record to 23-1 with four career technical falls.
Also gaining wins for the Trojans were Jose Valdez at 197 pounds and Troy Monahan III at 285 pounds.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday at home against No. 4 Iowa Western. The dual meet is slated to start at 7 p.m.
