NIACC falls to Indian HIlls on mat, 28-13
CENTERVILLE - The No. 7 NIACC wrestling team dropped a 28-13 decision to No. 12 Indian Hills on Wednesday in an ICCAC dual meet.
Indian Hills, which won the NJCAA Region XI tournament, won five of the nine contested matches, including two by fall. The Warriors also picked up a forfeit win at 133 pounds.
NIACC picked up wins from Quentrevion Campbell (141), Christian Minto (165), Jose Valdez (197) and Troy Monahan III (285).
Campbell (4-1) picked up a 9-7 decision over the Warriors' Victor Guzman at 141 pounds. Campbell also topped Guzman 5-3 in the NJCAA North Central District Tournament title match.
Minto (6-0) gained a 11-3 major decision over the Warriors' Bamba Sene at 165 pounds. Minto, who is top ranked at 165 pounds, moved his career mark to 28-1 with four falls, seven technical falls and six major decisions.
Valdez (6-0) topped Indian Hills' Khris Walton 10-3 at 197 pounds. Valdez, who is ranked third at 197 pounds, edged Walton 3-2 in the district title match.
At 285, Monahan III (3-4) stopped the Warriors' Caleb Collins 3-1. Monahan III also nipped Collins 3-1 in the first round at the district tournament.
NIACC (2-3 in duals) returns to action March 24 at home against No. 13 Iowa Lakes. The dual is slated to start at 6 p.m.
