NIACC women face DCTC in opener

ROSEMOUNT, Minn. - The NIACC women's soccer team kicks off its season Saturday against Dakota County Technical College.

Match time is set for 5 p.m.

The Lady Trojans also play at Lake Superior College in Duluth, Minn. on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The DCTC women are 2-1 with wins over Lake Superior College (4-2 and the Crown College Junior Varsity (2-1) and a 11-3 loss to Hawkeye CC.

Lake Superior College is 0-3 with losses to DCTC, Northland College (3-0) and Anoka-Ramsey (5-0).

The NIACC women are making their return to the pitch for the first time since the 2004 season. NIACC had a women's soccer program from 2001-04.

The Lady Trojans' home opener is set for Sept. 10 against the Grand View University junior varsity.

Notes - DCTC leads the all-time series against NIACC 2-0 ... DCTC topped NIACC 7-3 and 11-2 in the 2003 season ... NIACC's meeting with Lake Superior College will be the first meeting between the two schools in women's soccer ... NIACC and DCTC meet in an ICCAC contest on Oct. 14 in Mason City.
