NIACC cross country teams remain in top 20
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's and men's cross country teams remained in the top 20 in this week's polls released by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The NIACC women are ranked 13th and the NIACC men are ranked 18th. The Lady Trojans were 12th in the previous poll released on Sept. 30 and the NIACC men were 16th.
In the women's poll, Iowa Central is ranked No. 1 and Iowa Western is ranked 19th.
In the men's poll, Iowa Central is ranked No. 1 and Iowa Western is ranked ninth.
The NIACC women placed 25th in the college division race at the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper on Oct. 3 and the NIACC men placed 26th.
In the women's race in Fayetteville, Ark., freshman Jessica Blumberg placed 209th in a time of 19 minutes, 18 seconds in the 5-kilometer race, which is the third fastest time in school history. In the men's race, sophomore Imad Amenzou placed 67th in a school-record time of 25:12 in the 8K race. Amenzou broke the old school mark of 25:24 by Trey Simons in 2014
Both NIACC teams return to action Friday at the Loras College Dr. Tucker Invitational in Dubuque.
