NIACC men place 31st at Griak Invitational
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The NIACC men's cross country team placed 31st in the Maroon Division II race at the 30th annual Roy Griak Invitationalon Saturday with 916 points.
Sophomore Imad Amenzou led the Trojans, who are ranked 10th in the NJCAA poll, with a 76th place finish in a time of 27 minutes, 51 seconds in the 8-kilometer race on the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course.
Black Hills State won the men's race, which was made up mainly of NCAA Division II schools, with 93 points.
Also for NIACC, sophomore Tyler Randall was 222nd in 29:40; Nick Frenz was 295th in 30:52; John Enright was 310th in 31:15; Aaron Hardcastle was 359th in 33:10 and Alec Mulcahey was 390th in 39:04.
In the women's race, NIACC placed 33rd with 870 points in the Maroon Division II race. The University of Minnesota-Duluth was the team champion with 83 points.
Freshman Jessica Blumberg led the Lady Trojans, who are ranked sixth in the NJCAA cross country poll, with a 101st finish in 25: 22 in the 6-kilometer race. Blumberg's time is the 11th best 6K time in NIACC women's history.
Former NIACC all-American Hannah Palmeter. who runs at Southwest Minnesota State, placed fifth in the women's maroon race in a time of 22:39. Palmeter placed 14th in the same race for the Lady Trojans a year ago in 22:55.
Also for the Lady Trojans on Saturday, Alyssa Cowan was 192nd in a personal-best 6K time of 26:37; Emerson Sears was 210th in 26:52; Lattie Crozier was 283rd in 28:06; Jordan Lane was 323rd in 29:45; Taylor Glawe was 338th in 31:26 and Emma Phipps was 359th in 38:16.
NIACC returns to action Oct. 3 at the University of Arkansas Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
