NIACC's Kipkemboi earns NJCAA Division II XC runner of week honor
MASON CITY - For the second week in row, NIACC's Melvin Kipkemboi has received a weekly honor for his performance on the cross country course.
On Wednesday, Kipkemboi was selected as the NJCAA Division II mens's cross country runner of the week for the week of Sept.7-13. Kipkemboi placed seventh at last Friday's Grand View Viking Invitational in a time of 27:12 in the 8-kilometer race.
No. 1 NIACC (NJCAA Division II) placed second at the Grand View Viking Invitational with 54 points. No. 1 Iowa Central (NJCAA Division I) won the invitational with 22 points.
Kipkemboi was selected as the ICCAC Division II male cross country athlete of the week for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 5.
NIACC returns to action Sept. 25 at the Southwestern Spartan Classic in Creston.
