No. 14 NIACC women play in Great Western Shootout this weekend
FORT DODGE - The No. 14 NIACC women's basketball team returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Great Western Shootout on the Iowa Central campus.
NIACC (4-0) plays Northeast CC at 3 p.m. on Friday and faces North Dakota State College of Science at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The NIACC women have not played since Nov. 12 when they topped Lake Land College 102-68 at the Dale Howard Classic in Iowa Falls.
NIACC averages 105.5 points per game through its first four games, which leads all NJCAA Division II teams.
Cincinnati State ranks second among NJCAA Division II teams at 95.5 points per game and Highland CC (Kansas) ranks third (95.7).
NIACC has scored at least 100 points in three of its four wins this season. The high-water mark came in a 116-76 victory over Bryant & Stratton-Milwaukee at the Konigsmark Klassic on Nov. 5.
NIACC ranks sixth in NJCAA Division II with 63 3-point goals and rank fourth in assists (20.8 per game).
Freshmen Taylor Laabs and Cierra Stanciel both average 14.3 points per game to lead NIACC. Freshman Carly Seely averages 11.5 points per game and sophomore Courtney Larson averages 11.0 points per game.
