NIACC women begin ICCAC slate vs. No. 8 DMACC
MASON CITY - A total of 15 nonconference games are in the books.
The ICCAC season starts Saturday for the NIACC women's basketball team when No. 8 DMACC comes to town. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
NIACC enters the conference season with an 8-7 mark. DMACC begins league play at 13-2.
NIACC is coming off a 77-62 loss at Iowa Western last Saturday. Freshman UU Longs led the Lady Trojans with 15 points against the NJCAA Division I Reivers.
Freshman Cierra Stanciel averages 11.4 points per game to lead NIACC in scoring. Freshman Taylor Laabs is next in line at 10.8 points per game and Hattie Davidson averages 10.0 points per game.
In the last five seasons, the NIACC women are 9-3 against DMACC. The Lady Trojans nipped the Bears 83-80 in last season's NJCAA Region XI title game.
In other league games Saturday, No. 17 Southeastern plays at Iowa Central, No. 1 Kirkwood plays at Southwestern and Iowa Lakes plays at Ellsworth.
