NIACC women host Iowa Central in tourney opener
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team hosts Iowa Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XI tournament.
It is the fifth straight season that the NIACC women have hosted a first-round regional tournament contest.
The Lady Trojans (17-12 overall, 9-5 in the league) enter the post-season tournament as the No. 3 seed. Iowa Central (12-17, 4-10) is the No. 6 seed.
The winner of Tuesday's contest plays either No. 2 seed DMACC or No. 7 seed Iowa Lakes in the semfiinals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
NIACC won both regular season contests against Iowa Central. The Lady Trojans won 68-48 in Mason City and 76-45 in Fort Dodge.
The two teams also met in the league tournament semifinals last season with the Lady Trojans winning 67-54.
