No. 1 Kirkwood women stop NIACC, 73-46
MASON CITY - The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team topped NIACC 73-46 on Wednesday in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Kirkwood (14-0 overall, 14-0 in the ICCAC) was led by Karsyn Stratton with 13 points. Ashley Tull scored 12 points and Tatia Hodges-Johnson also reached double figures for the Eagles with 11 points.
Kirkwood led 16-6 after the first quarter and pushed its lead to 32-18 at the half.
NIACC (3-12, 2-11) was led by sophomore Abby Leach with 16 points. Also for the Lady Trojans, Kourtney Manning scored 15 points with eight rebounds, five steals and two assists.
NIACC's Aaliyah Hill scored eight points.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at home against Marshalltown CC. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
