3 Trojans earn all-region honors
FORT DODGE - The NIACC women's cross country team had three runners earn all-region honors Friday at the NJCAA Region 11 Division II championships at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
NIACC freshman Hailey Hanson placed seventh and sophomore Olivia Spurling placed eighth as both earned second-team all-region honors. Sophomore Bridget Canton placed ninth to earn honorable mention all-region honors.
Spurling was also a second-team all-region performer as a freshman in 2024 and Canton was an honorable mention all-region performer as a freshman in 2024. NIACC has had 80 all-region performers since the program competed in its first regional meet in 2005.
At Friday's race, Hanson earned her seventh-place finish in a time of 20 minutes, 34 seconds in the five-kilometer race. Spurling placed eighth in 21:02 and Canton was ninth in 21:04.
NIACC placed third in the team standings with 61 points. DMACC was the team champion with 19 points and Southeastern was second with 50 points.
Also for the Trojans on Friday, freshman Zoey Dreckman was 19th in a time of 25:16, freshman Jennifer Carranza was 22nd (26:16) and freshman Allison Lensing was 24th (26:40).
