LA CROSSE, Wis. - The NIACC baseball team split an ICCAC doubleheader with No. 19 Southeastern on Tuesday.
After winning Monday's suspended game 5-4, Southeastern won the first game of Tuesday's twinbill, 11-8. NIACC won the second game, 8-5.
The win by the Trojans was the 200th career win for NIACC sixth-year coach Travis Hergert, who has a career mark of 200-114.
In the 8-5 victory, Fox Leum hit two solo home runs to lead the NIACC offense. It was the second time this season that Leum has hit two home runs in a game.
NIACC's Spencer Chirpich (2-2) gained the win. He pitched seven innings allowing no run on six hits with a career-best nine strikeouts. Riley Wikel recorded the last two outs for the Trojans in the ninth inning to collect his first career save.
In the first-game loss on Tuesday, NIACC's Bryce Ball was 4 for 4 with two home runs and a double. It was Ball's sixth career game with at least four hits and it was his first career 2-home run contest.
NIACC (9-14 overall, 1-3 in the ICCAC) returns to action Friday and Saturday in a four-game series at Northeast CC in Norfolk, Neb.
