CAPE GIRADREAU, Mo. - The NIACC baseball team opened the 2022 season with a doubleheader sweep Saturday of Three Rivers CC.
NIACC, under interim coach Lincoln Hochmuth, won the opener 6-2 and took the second game 8-5.
In the opener, NIACC's Cayden Nicoletto was 2 for 4, including a home run and a double with two RBIs. Logan Milene hit a three-run home run.
Also for the Trojans in game one, Gunnar Hansen and Cody Kelly both collected three hits. Jacob Mrosko gained the win on the mound allowing two runs on two hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched with 10 strikeouts and three walks.
In the second game, Hansen was 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Milene and Cole Fuecker both collected two hits.
NIACC's Thomas Gross gained the win on the mound with nine strikeouts and two walks. He allowed two runs on six hits in five innings of work.
NIACC wraps up its 3-game series with Three Rivers CC with a single game on Sunday. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
