Trojans drop pair to Iowa Western
MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team dropped an ICCAC twinbill Saturday afternoon to Iowa Western at Roosevelt Field.
Iowa Western won the first game 12-0 in five innings and complted the sweep with a 10-6 win in the second game.
In the first game, the Reivers scored in four of their five at-bats, including three runs in the first and fourth innings and five runs in the fifth inning.
NIACC was held to four hits in the opener. Lincoln Becker, Jack McDonough, Hudson Waldow and Henry Mattox all had singles for the Trojans.
In the second game, NIACC led 6-4 after seven innings. Iowa Western, however, scored three runs in the eighth inning and three runs in the ninth inning.
The Reivers received a 3-run home run from Kane Wilson in the eighth inning and received a 3-run home run from Noah Kubo in the ninth inning.
NIACC scored four ot its six runs in the second inning. Ryan Coffman and Justyn Rivera both plated two runs with doubles in the frame.
In the third inning, NIACC's Minchan Kim drove in a run with a single.
In the sixth inning, NIACC's George McIntyre plated a run with a double.
Rivera, Kim and Mattox all had two hits each for the Trojans.
NIACC (14-29 overall, 7-17 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday in a single game at Ellsworth. First pitch in Iowa Falls on Wednesday is slated for 1 p.m.
