NORFOLK, Neb. - The Northeast CC baseball team swept an ICCAC doubleheader from NIACC on Sunday.
Northeast CC won the first game 17-7 in five innings and claimed the second game 10-9 with a walkoff win in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Hawks claimed the season-opening four-game series, 3-1.
The two teams split a twinbill on Saturday. Northeast CC won Saturday's opener 12-2 in five innings and the Trojans won the second game 7.5.
In the first game, Northeast CC pounded out 13 hits in five at-bats to claim the 10-run victory. The Hawks scored three runs in the first inning, plated five runs in the third frame, posted eight runs in the fourth inning and ended the game via the 10-run rule with a single run in the fifth inning.
NIACC scored four runs in the third inning and plated three runs in the fifth inning.
The Trojans received home runs from Mason Nadolney and Ben Tallman and a double from Ben Wagner.
In the second game, the Hawks (9-9 overall, 3-1 in the ICCAC) claimed the one-run win and the series victory when Cooper Whitt drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the ninth inning.
NIACC's Thomas Gross was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Noah Juliar was 2 for 5 with two RBIs. The Trojans also received a two-run home run from Nadolney in the sixth inning.
NIACC (6-5, 1-3) returns to action Wednesday at Iowa Central in an ICCAC twinbill. The first game is slated to start at noon.
