MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team pushed its winning streak to four games with an ICCAC sweep of Iowa Lakes on a chilly Wednesday afternoon at Roosevelt Field.
NIACC (11-17 overall, 6-15 in the ICCAC) won the first game 10-4 and swept the twinbill with a 6-0 victory in game two.
In the first game, NIACC, which swept Southwestern in a twinbill on Sunday, scored five runs in the fourth inning and pushed across five more runs in the fifth inning as the Trojans scored in double figures for the third straight game.
In the fourth inning, Noah Juliar drove in two runs with a double for NIACC. The Trojans also received and RBI double from Jakob Kouneski, an RBI single from Nic Nelson and Brian Williams drove in a run with a ground out.
In the fifth inning, Nelson hit a 3-run home run and Declan Beers had an RBI single.
Thomas Gross picked up the complete-game win for the Trojans. Gross (1-3) struck out nine with one walk and one hit batter while allowing four runs and four hits.
In the second game, four NIACC pitchers combined for a 3-hit shutout of the Lakers (4-29, 2-21). Cole Hupke (1-0) pitched the first five innings and gained the win.
Hupke struck out a career-high nine and allowed two hits through five innings. Jake Green pitched the sixth and seventh innings, Gino Cozzi threw the eighth inning and Matt Barragy tossed a scoreless ninth frame.
NIACC's Logan Milene hit a 3-run home run in the first inning.
NIACC's Franco Barbieri doubled and scored a run in the second inning, homered in the fourth inning and plated a run with a squeeze bunt in the sixth inning.
NIACC returns to action Saturday and Sunday in a four-game home series against No. 13 Southeastern (25-11, 15-9).
