NIACC's Kramer selected as ICCAC pitcher of week
MASON CITY – For the second straight week, NIACC's Collin Kramer has been selected as the ICCAC Division II pitcher of the week for the week of April 5-11.
The southpaw who prepped at St. Ansgar struck out 18 in a 13-0 seven-inning win over Southwestern on Sunday. Kramer took a perfect game into the fifth inning and a no-hitter into the sixth inning.
Kramer, who was also the league's pitcher of the week for the week of March 29-April 4, allowed three hits and issued one walk in his complete-game gem.
Kramer's previous career strikeout total was eight in second game of doubleheader against Illinois Central on March 6.
The shutout was the first by NIACC since the Trojans blanked the Luther College Junior Varsity 11-0 on May 6, 2019.
The 18 strikeouts by Kramer (3-2) was the most by a NIACC pitcher since Tim Black struck out 16 in a 2-0 win over Madison College in the opening round of the 2013 NJCAA Division II World Series.
In his last two starts, Kramer, who has signed with UNC-Charlotte, has 25 strikeout with four walks and no runs allowed.
Kramer (3-2) has 44 strikeouts and 21 walks in his six starts this season.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday with an ICCAC doubleheader at home against Iowa Lakes. The first game is slated to start at 2:15 p.m.
