NIACC men's golf team places 7th at regionals
PANORA - The NIACC men's golf team concluded its season Sunday with a seventh-place finish at the Region XI meet.
The Trojans finished with a two-day total of 669. Kirkwood won the meet with a 602.
"This wasn't the way we anticipated ending the season, but the guys worked hard today. It just wasn't meant to be," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said.
Zach Nicholson led NIACC with a two-day total of 160, two ahead of Joe Nordquist (162). Chris Staudt carded a 164, Brandon Nordman shot 183 and Sam Steinwand had a 194. Nicholson missed out on advancing to the national meet by four strokes.
Kirkwood's Carson Whittinham was the medalist with a 164.
"Great group of guys," Frenz said. "I'll really miss those sophomores next year."
