NIACC men place third at Waldorf Invitational
FOREST CITY - The NIACC men's golf team placed third at the Waldorf Collge Fall Invitational on Sunday with a 326 at Bear Creek Golf Club.
Waldorf won the invitational with a 305 and Iowa Wesleyan was second with a 314.
The Trojans' Sam Steinwand was second with a 73.
Also for the Trojans, Spencer Davidson and Brandon Nordman, playing as an individual, tied for ninth with 80s. Zach Nicholson shot an 85, Chris Staudt shot an 88, Joe Nordquist shot a 93 while individuals Kenton Waters shot an 81 and Brandon Hebel a 94.
"Outside of Sam, the others really struggleed for some reason," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "It was a perfect fall day with the temps in the mid-60s and light winds but the Bear kind of roughed us up.
"This it the time of year in the fall that you really have to focus more and mentally prepare yourself to play. We have one more week before our regional preview tournament at Lake Panorama and we need to nave all the guys playing well, not just Sam."
