NIACC's Steinwand wins Iowa Lakes Invitational

OKOBOJI - Sam Steinwand shot a two-day total of 143 to win the individual title Sunday at the Iowa Lakes Invitational.
"Sam has been outstanding this fall season," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "His focus is at a very high level and his goal is to get back to the national tournament this spring.
"This fall season, Sam has been in the top five in every tournament and his play this weekend is a nice reward for his hard work."
Steinwand's five-round average this fall is 72.6.
The 143 total is the lowest 36-hole total in Steinwand's NIACC career. His previous best was a 147 at the Midwest Collegiate Championships in Moravia on Sept. 8-9, 2014.
NIACC, which finished fifth, also received scoring rounds from Zach Nicholson (tied for 17th, 157), Chris Staudt (21st, 158), Joe Nordquist (26th, 162) and Joesph Lensing (33rd, 165).
The NIACC men return to action Tuesday at the RCTC Invitational in Rochester, Minn.
