NIACC men's golf team places second at Iowa Wesleyan Invite
FORT MADISON - The NIACC men's golf team placed second at the Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Classic on Monday at the Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course with a 315.
Hannibal-LaGrange won the nine-team invitational with a 313.
Sophomore Sam Steinwand's runner-up round of 75 led the NIACC men. Spencer Davidson (78), Brandon Nordman (80) and Zach Nicholson (82) rounded out the NIACC scoring.
"Sam is a great lead person and to have my No. 5 guy (Davidson) shoot 78 is going to put us in a position to win some tournaments," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said.
The Waldorf men finished fifth with a 325, led by former NIACC player Thomas O'Rourke's 79.
The NIACC women finished second of the three teams on the women's side with a team score of 378. Bailey Walter led the Lady Trojans with an 89, Carlie Eckenrod shot 91, Savannah Lentz had a 94 and Lyndie Phillips added a 104.
The Waldorf women shot 338 to win the three-team invitational. Fernanda Valdes led the Waldorf women with a medalist round of 81 and Maggie Peters was runner up with an 82.
