NIACC's Ellis places 7th in 400 at nationals
HUTCHINSON, Kan. - NIACC sophomore Quinton Ellis placed eighth in the 400-meter dash finals Saturday at the NJCAA Division I national championships.
Ellis earned his seventh-place finish in 50.02 seconds to earn USTFCCCA all-American honors. Ellis qualified for the finals with a time of 46.38 in the preliminaries.
Ellis is the first Trojan to earn all-American honors in the 400 since Dominque Pressley at the 2006 national outdoor meet.
Also for the Trojans, sophomore Rodney Ngezimani placed 14th in the discus with a toss of 43.71 meters (143 feet, 5 inches). Ngezimani also placed 18th in the shot put with a toss of 12.89 meters (42-3 1/2).
