NIACC's Willems earns ICCAC POW honor
MASON CITY - NIACC's Mandy Willems has been selected as the ICCAC women's basketball player of the week for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3.
It is the third time this season that Willems has earned the league's player of the week honor. Willems also earned the honor for the weeks of Oct. 29-Nov. 4 and Jan. 13-20.
It is the fifth time this season that a Lady Trojan has been honored. NIACC's Jada Buford and Autam Mendez also have won the award.
During the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3, Willems scored 53 points with 22 rebounds, six assists and three steals in league wins over Iowa Lakes and Southwestern.
Willems is tied for second on NIACC's single-season three-point list with 103. Willems leads NJCAA Division II in three-pointers and from the free-throw line, shooting 92.4% (85 of 92).
