GARDEN CITY, Kan. - For the second time in three matches, the NIACC women's soccer team has played to a 90-minute draw.
NIACC (1-0-2) tied Cisco College 2-2 on Friday afternoon in a non-conference contest.
"We started the game well," first-year NIACC coach Raphael Nascimento said, "scoring the first goal on a free kick.
"The game got physical and intense. Cisco was able to score two goals and our team fought back to get the equalizer on another free kick."
NIACC's first goal was scored by sophomore Maya Gildroy in the seventh minute. It was Gildroy's first goal this season and sixth of her career.
Freshman Rikke Vestrgard scored the Trojans' second goal in the 80th minute. It was Vestrgard's second goal of the season as she also scored a goal in the Trojans' 8-0 win over DCTC on Tuesday.
NIACC sophomore keeper Nadia Kaiser recorded seven saves in the 2-2 draw.
NIACC returns to action Saturday against Garden City CC. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
