Trojans begin tourney play at Iowa Central
FORT DODGE - The NIACC women's soccer team begins play in the NJCAA Region 11 Division II tournament at Iowa Central on Saturday.
Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
NIACC (5-7-3 overall, 3-4-1 in the ICCAC) earned the sixth-seed for the seven-team regional tournament. Iowa Central (10-5, 6-2) enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed.
The winner of Saturday's match plays the (2) Northeast CC/(7) DCTC winner on Oct. 28 at the site of the highest remaining seed in the regional tournament semifinals.
Iowa Central topped NIACC 1-0 in their regular season meeting in Mason City on Oct. 4. The Tritons' Sydney Hagen scored the lone goal of the match in the 77th minute.
NIACC wrapped up its regular season with a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Southeastern CC on Wednesday on the NIACC campus.
The Trojans received goals from Emmalyse Bordignon, Rikke Vestrgard and Noemi Nater. Maya Gildroy collected two assists in Wednesday's victory.
Bordignon now has 18 career goals, which ranks second on the school's career goals scored list. Gildroy now has 15 career assists, which ranks first on the school's career assist list.
