NIACC women to compete in four events at nationals
TOPEKA, Kan. - The NIACC women's track and field team will compete in four events at the NJCAA Men's & Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships at Washburn University.
The Trojans' Romanica Wiltshire will compete in the 60-meter dash, Breanna Swaby will compete in the weight throw, Suzanne Guedeyi will run the 400-meter dash and Bridget Canton will compete in the 1,000-meter run.
Wiltshire placed fourth in the 60-meter dash at the NJCAA Region 11 championships in a time of 7.64 seconds. Wiltshire owns the school's indoor record in the 60 with a time of 7.62 at the SDSU Classic on Feb. 13.
The 60-meter dash prelims are set for 5 p.m. on Friday.
Swaby placed seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 13.24 meters (43 feet, 5 1/4) inches at the regional meet. Swaby's personal best toss in the weight throw is 13.66 meters (44-9 3/4) at the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Classic on Feb. 7.
Swaby will compete in the weight throw at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Guedeyi placed sixth in the 400-meter dash at the regional meet in a time of 1 minute, 2.42 seconds. Guedeyi's career best in the 400 is a time of 1:01.78, which ranks fourth on the school's all-time indoor list, at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Feb. 14.
Canton placed seventh in the 1,000-meter run at the regional meet in a time of 3:19.95.
Canton will run the 1,000 at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.
