MASON CITY - The No. 22 NIACC softball team swept Hawkeye CC Tuesday in an ICCAC twinbill on the NIACC campus.
NIACC, which has won six straight contests, won the opener 8-0 in five innings with sophomore right-hander Izzy Sloan (15-8) tossing a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts. The Trojans completed the sweep with a 13-0 five-inning win in the second game with freshman Ally Wall hitting two home runs with five RBIs.
It was the second no-hitter for the Trojans this season against Hawkeye CC. Sophomore right-hander Macy Kellar threw a no-hitter in a 10-0 five-inning victory in the second game of a doubleheader on April 5 in Hudson.
The shutout by Sloan was the fourth of the season for her and eighth of her career.
Wall's two home runs in the second game against Hawkeye CC was the first time since Wall and Thea Mattson both hit two home runs in a 15-3 win over Iowa Lakes in the first game of a doubleheader against Iowa Lakes on April 3 in Estherville.
NIACC improved to 31-19 overall and 15-9 in the ICCAC.
It is the third straight season that the Trojans have won at least 30 games. The Trojans were 33-23 in 2024 and 36-13 in 2023.
In the first game, the Trojans received home runs from Wall and Makayla Wirkus. Wall was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Wirkus was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
In the second game, Kellar (13-7) and Maren Sauvageau combined to blank the Redtails over five innings. Kellar allowed one hit with 10 strikeouts in four innings of work.
Wall powered the Trojan offense with her two home runs and five RBIs. Wirkus was 3 for 4, including a double, with three RBis.
Also for the Trojans, Mattson was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Sloan was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Kaitlin Blair was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Katie Riesselman was 2 for 3.
NIACC wraps up its regular season Saturday and Sunday at home with doubleheaders against Northeast CC and Iowa Central.
