NIACC's Codling earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - NIACC's Xavier Codling was selected as the ICCAC men's track and field athlete of the week for the week of Feb. 16-22.
Codling, a sophomore from Kingston, Jamaica, claimed titles in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.11 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 7.19 meters ( (23 feet, 7 1/4 inches). He was the first NIACC men's track and field athlete to win two events at the regional meet since Wal Khat won the 600 and 800 at the 2017 indoor regional meet.
Codling also placed sixth in the high jump at the regional indoor meet.
Codling shared the league's weekly award with Iowa Central sophomore Taha Ouchene.
Codling is the first NIACC men's track and field athlete to win the league's weekly award since Terrence Thomas for the week of April 15-21, 2024.
