NIACC's Grunhovd places 4th in steeplechase at nationals
HOBBS, N.M. - NIACC freshman Gavin Grunhovd placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday at the NJCAA Division I national championships.
Grunhovd's fourth-place finish earned him USTFCCCA All-American honors.
The fourth-place finish is the highest in the steeplechase in NIACC men's track and field history. The Trojans' Melvin Kipkemboi place seventh in the steeplechase at the 2022 outdoor national meet.
Grunhovd is the second Trojan to earn all=American honors at the 2026 outdoor national meet.
On Thursday. NIACC's Xavier Codling placed third in the long jump with a school-record leap of 7.54 meters (24 feet, 8 3/4 inches).
