NIACC's Codling wins long jump at Central Invite
PELLA - NIACC's Xavier Codling started the outdoor season where he left off in the indoor season in the long jump.
Codling, who placed third in the long jump at the NJCAA national indoor meet earlier this month, won the long jump at the Central College Invitational on Saturday with a leap of 7.32 meters (24 feet, 0 1/4 inches). Codling had already qualafied for the national outdoor meet with his best leap during the indoor season.
NIACC's Aldaine Angus was second in the long jump with a leap of 7.31 meters (23-11 3/4), which qualified him for the outdoor national meet.
The Trojans placed second in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 42.34 seconds. Running for the Trojans were Angus, Codling, Tyjah Bishop and Tamarius McDonald.
Codling's leap of 7.32 meters ranks second on the school's all-time outdoor long jump list and Angus' leap of 7.31 meters ranks third on the school's all-time outdoor long jump list.
Also Saturday, Codling placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.66 seconds, which ranks third on the school's all-time list. He was also ninth in the 200 in a time of 21.59 (fourth on school's all-time outdoor list).
NIACC's Kahuan Harris placed third in the high jump with a leap of 2.01 meters (6-7), which is second on the school's all-time outdoor list. Harris was also sixth in the long jump with a leap of 7.02 meters (23-0 1/2).
NIACC's Javon Kille was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.53 meters (44-4 3/4), which ranks third on the school's all-time list.
NIACC's Alex Marchand Fierro was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 56.26, which ranks third on the school's all-time list The Trojans' Gabe Hemsworth was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 57.42.
NIACC's Gavin Grunhovd placed sixth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:5.92, which ranks sixth on the school's all-time list.
The Trojans' Colin Rasch was 25th in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.85 meters (137-3), which ranks third on the school's all-time list. Marshall Zeine was 36th in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.33 meters (125-9), which ranks seventh on NIACC's all-time list.
