No. 7 Trojans return to mat today
PELLA - After a month off of competition, the No. 7 (NJCAA Division I) NIACC wrestling team returns to action Jan. 8 at the Central College Under Armour Invitational on Saturday.
Wrestling for the Trojans Saturday in the gold division are Cruz Aguilar (125), ninth-ranked Clarence Lee-Green (133), Ryker Pentz (141), Brody Hawtrey (149), second-ranked Deville Dentis (149), Clay Schemmel (157), Roush Jaeger (157), Josh Barretta (157), top-ranked Christian Minto (165), Ryan Van Donselaar (165), Cale Luithens (174), Ein Carlos (174), eighth-ranked Chase McCleish (184), second-ranked Jose Valdez (197), Jaylin Smith (285) and Jacob Leohr (285).
Competing in the silver division for the Trojans will be Nick Billings (174).
Last time out: NIACC picked up a 43-3 dual meet victory over Minnesota West Community and Technical College on Dec. 8. NIACC picked up wins from Lee-Green (133) and Minto (165).
Lee-Green stopped Ayden Rienhardt 19-5 by major decision and Minto topped 7th-ranked (174) Damon Ashworth 5-3. The Trojans also won matches by forfeit.
For the record: Lee-Green has a record of 4-2 with 2 falls and 1 major decision … Dentis is 3-1 with 2 major decisions … Minto is 2-0 … McCleish is 7-2 with 2 major decisions … Valdez is 2-0.
