NIACC's Minto selected as ICCAC wrestler of the week
MASON CITY - For the fifth time in his career, NIACC's Christian Minto has been selected as the ICCAC athlete of the week for the week of Feb. 7-13.
Minto became a three-time NJCAA North Central District champion at 165 pounds by pinning Ellsworth's Khaitov Mirzo in 6 minutes, 57 seconds in the finals. For the third straight season, Minto was selected as the tournament's most outstanding wrestler for the third straight season.
Minto won the ICCAC wrestler of the week for the week of Jan. 24-30 this season. He also won the weekly award twice in the 2021 season and once in the 2019-20 season.
Minto, who is 11-0 this season and the defending national champion at 165 pounds, heads into the NJCAA Division I national tournament with a career record of 46-1. The national tournament is set for March 4-5 in Council Bluffs.
