No. 7 NIACC tops Ellsworth, 32-9
MASON CITY - The No. 7 NIACC wrestling team won eight matches as the Trojans defeated Ellsworth 32-9 in ICCAC action on Thursday in the NIACC Recreation Center.
NIACC picked up a pin from Cruz Aguilar at 125 pounds as he topped Kaden Karns in 1 minute, 54 seconds. The Trojans also received major decisions from Quentrevion Campbell (141 pounds) and No. 2 Jose Valdez (197). Top-ranked (165) Christian Minto, No. 8 (184) Chase McCleish and Jaylin Smith (285) all won by 7-2 decisions. Minto's win came against No. 8 Mirzo Khayitov.
Meanwhile, No. 9 (133) Clarence Lee-Green won by an 8-5 decision over Zeth Strejc for NIACC. NIACC also picked up a forfeit from Brody Hawtrey at 157 pounds.
Ellsworth's sixth-ranked Nate Lendt was able to sneak by No. 2 Deville Dentis 7-4 at 149 pounds and the Panthers also picked up a pin from Nolan Craine in 2:25 at 174 pounds.
NIACC returns to action on Wednesday when the Trojans travel to Iowa Western.
