Trojans' Honore ranked fifth
MASON CITY - NIACC freshman Geraldine Honore is ranked fifth at 145 pounds in the NJCAA women's wrestling individual rankings released on Thursday.
Colby's Destiny Gonzalez is also ranked fifth at 145 pounds. Snow's isabelle Morgan is ranked No. 1 and Iowa Central's Valerie Hamilton is ranked No. 2.
Honore, who is from Homestead, Fla., is 8-2 with two falls and two technical falls.
Honore placed first at the Battle For The Helmet at 145 pounds on Jan. 3 in the NIACC recreation center with a pair of falls. She pinned Hawkeye CC's Shannon Dolan in 1 minute, 17 seconds and stuck the Redtails' Makenna Brissey in :19.
In the team rankings, defending national champion Indian Hills is No. 1, Southeast CC is No. 2 and Iowa Central is No. 3.
NIACC (1-2 in duals) returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC dual meet at No. 4 Iowa Western. Match time in Council Bluffs is slated for 6 p.m.
