Three Trojans advance to quarterfinals
COUNCIL BLUFFS - Three NIACC women's wrestlers remain alive on the championship side of the bracket heading into the Friday night session at the NJCAA Invitational at the Mid-America Center.
Advancing to Friday night's quarterfinals are Olivia Brown at 138 pounds, Kenzi Jackson at 207 pounds and Ayanna Omollo at 235 pounds.
NIACC is in 13th place with 23.5 points heading into Friday night's session.
At 138 pounds, Brown topped Destiny Gonzalez of Colby 7-0 in her first match and she blanked Ytzel Fitzgerald of Umpqua by technical fall 11-0 in her second round match. Brown (12-8) has six technical falls this season.
Brown faces Anna Spencer of Southwestern Oregon in Friday night's quarterfinals.
At 207 pounds, Jackson, who received a first-round bye, topped Snow's Chloe Colvin 6-0 in her second round match. Jackson moved her record to 14-6.
Jackson takes on Hawkeye CC's fifth-ranked Alyson Crum in the quarterfinals Friday night.
At 235 pounds, Omollo, who recieved a first-round bye, stopped Sydnei Proctor Jones of Northampton 5-0 in her second round match. Omollo improved her 2025-26 record to 7-8.
Omollo wrestles Indian Hills' Azreal Smith, who is ranked third, in the quarterfinals.
NIACC has four wrestlers still alive in the consolation side of the bracket, as well.
Wrestling Friday night in the consolation round for the Trojans will be Addyson Brown (103), Hannah Rosenberg (131), Geraldine Honore (145), Kallie Gibbons (145)
