Trojans place 2nd at Iowa Central Fall Kickoff
FORT DODGE - The NIACC women's golf team placed second Monday at the Iowa Central Fall Kickoff at the Fort Dodge Country Club with a team score of 352.
Host Iowa Central was the team champion with a round of 330.
NIACC was led by freshman Audrey Overgaard with a round of 83, which earned her runner-up individual medalist honors.
"It was another solid outing from Audrey Overgaard (Monday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "She had good control of her driver and short game and putting was pretty good, as well.
"It was good to see her back up a solid round (Sunday) at Hunters Ridge with another good outing (Monday)."
Also for the Trojans Monday, freshman Emma Topp shot 86, freshman Avery Knutsen shot 87, sophomore Addy Boell shot 96 and sophomore Danielle Randick shot 96.
Playing as individuals for the Trojans, sophomore Ashlyn Berven shot 102 and sophomore Kaiya Holten shot 108.
"Avery Knutsen also broke into the 80s for the first time and that was awesome to see," Frenz said. "I feel she's now ready to continue to roll through the rest of the fall season.
"I was very impressed with Emma Topp again (Monday). She's just a gamer. She puts her head down and just stays so level-headed."
NIACC returns to action Tuesday at the NIACC Fall Invitational.
"We're looking for more consistency ot of the 4-5 scores, but all of them really gave it all they had (Monday)," Frenz said. "I'm very encouraged by the team's efforts."
